Financial Statement
As a public charitable trust, we firmly believe in transparency and disclosure of Arghyam Financial status to the general public.
Arghyam was setup in 2001 with a private endowment from Mrs. Rohini Nilekani. In 2005-06, that endowment was increased from Rs. 1.9 crores to Rs. 60 crores. In the next financial year, the corpus fund will be increased to Rs. 100 crores.
Arghyam plans to disburse the interest earned from the Corpus fund, close to Rs. 8 crores, to all its water-sector efforts annually. Since 2005-06 was the first year, our disbursements have been lower than this. Arghyam's financial resources are targeted towards:
While the India Water Portal is designed to be a collaborative effort with many partners, Arghyam is currently taking the bottom-line on this effort and is committed to the Portal effort. The conference expenses in the chart below relate to consultation for the Water Portal that we sought from water-sector leaders across the country.
The Arghyam team is committed to keeping our administrative overheads low so that as far as possible, the money goes to the aid-recipient instead of to the aid-giver.
