RWH in Schools – BVV in Bagalkot

Summary 

Arghyam took up a pilot project in 2 schools in Bagalkot district. The project involves setting up rainwater harvesting systems in these schools. The maintenance and ownership of the RWH system lies with the SDMC (School Development Monitoring Committee) and student cabinet (exclusively formed for the purpose).

 

Why This Project?

  • To address the drinking water problem in the school.
  • To set up a model of rooftop rainwater harvesting for the whole community.

Target group

The children of the schools in which the project was implemented and through them, the entire community.

 

Activities Planned: 

  • Construction of a tank of size 20,000-50,000 litres with a hand-pump for drawing water.
  • The project will include training and awareness-building components.
  • Selection and training of students to form a School Cabinet.
