Integrated domestic Water Management - A project by MYRADA in 3 villages in Mysore and Kolar district

 

Location: Two villages in Bangarpet taluk, Kolar district and one village in H.D. Kote taluk, Mysore district in Karnataka.

Summary 

 

Arghyam is partnering with MYRADA to develop a model of integrated water management in two districts in Karnataka.

 

Why This Project?

  • So far, most projects promoting domestic water supply sponsored by Government or Private Organizations focused on a single purpose, mainly drinking water.
  • To promote the issue of equity, like access to water sources, distribution of the over-all quantity available and the quality of water.

Target group

 

The community in the above-mentioned villages with a population of about 2370.

 

Activities Planned: 

  • Organizing the community, building their capacities and ensuring construction of RWH, toilets including eco-san toilets.
  • Studying the water balance of the selected villages, hydro-geological survey to identify the right locations for constructing recharge structure and borewell point and putting in place these structures.
  • Water budgeting, ensuring metered, piped water supply to all the households in the village and strengthening the village level institution with a formal linkage with the Village Panchayat.
