This project aims at improving the health of children by ensuring the availability of safe water and sanitation facilities in government schools. The project will also help to develop appropriate management systems involving the school development and monitoring committees (SDMCs), teachers, and students for sustaining the efforts. Lessons and best practices will also be disseminated to larger audiences and relevant government authorities.
Kalike is a nodal agency for Kalike Samrudhhi Upakram, a learning enhancement initiative set up by the Navajbai Ratan Tata Trust, focusing on improving quality of elementary education in selected districts of Karnataka. Specific projects include facilitating systemic reform in elementary education by working with the existing system and strengthening it; working with multiple stakeholders to influence and enhance the child’s learning; recognizing and enhancing the active role of the teacher in creating child-centered classrooms; promoting professionalism within elementary education; and developing process-oriented interventions to address challenges in making elementary education accessible, meaningful and enjoyable for children.
