Surface and groundwater can become unfit for human consumption due to different kinds of geogenic and anthropogenic contamination. Arghyam’s purpose is to gain deeper insights into the issues of water quality. We also support partners in the creation of low-cost, effective, locally relevant water purification systems, which provide safe drinking water for communities.
Our interventions seek to tackle arsenic, fluoride, iron and bacteriological contamination of water, and salinity. Arghyam has funded the formation of two knowledge and experience sharing networks tackling fluoride and arsenic contamination in groundwater. The networks bring together practitioners to identify and advocate sustainable solutions to the government.
