On November 17, 2009 Arghyam received the bronze Excellence in Information Integrity (EII) Award in non profit category for its ASHWAS project. Arghyam's Nandini Ram received the award at a function in Illinois, USA.
A Household Survey of Water and Sanitation (ASHWAS) was conducted in 17,200 households in 28 districts of Karnataka brought out citizen's perspectives on watsan issues. Ashwas is designed as a feedback tool where in the survey, which captures citizen's perspective on various watsan issues, is taken back to the community to facilitate village level planning. The same is then submitted to the state government. [http://www.ashwas.indiawaterportal.org] The award has been instituted by the Information Integrity Coalition (IIC), a US based not-for-profit organization that promotes awareness and understanding of Information Integrity. IIC defines information integrity as the accuracy, consistency and reliability of the information content, and associated processes, systems and environment. Press release
