OUR APPROACH
Public health emergencies and natural disasters often place severe pressure on water and sanitation systems. During such crises, ensuring continued access to safe water becomes essential for protecting health and supporting vulnerable communities.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, many communities faced disruptions in livelihoods, limited access to sanitation facilities, and heightened health risks. Access to safe water and hygiene practices became central to preventing the spread of disease.
Arghyam worked with partners to support emergency relief efforts that helped communities maintain access to safe water and sanitation during this period. These efforts included providing essential supplies, supporting local institutions, and enabling community responses to immediate needs.
In addition to immediate relief, these efforts highlighted the importance of resilient water and sanitation systems that can continue functioning during crises.
Through partnerships with civil society organizations and local institutions, Arghyam contributed to efforts that helped communities navigate difficult conditions while maintaining access to essential water and sanitation services.
These experiences have also informed broader conversations on strengthening the resilience of water systems during emergencies.
