BACKGROUND

As the Jal Jeevan Mission turns to sustaining the water services it has built, a reliable digital foundation becomes essential.

The Government of India has begun laying one through Sujalam Bharat. Digitising rural drinking water is now inevitable. Whether it becomes open, inclusive and shared across States is still a choice.

This paper, from SPM-NIWAS and Arghyam, sets out how that foundation can be opened into an interoperable and federated ecosystem.
